Flaming Bananas

Who doesn't have an overripe banana around? Try this for a quick last minute dessert. Almost everyone loves bananas done this way! See the notes! Bananas contain tryptophan, which which will relax both you and your guests!

   

STEPS

INGREDIENTS

  • In a large frying pan, melt the butter over a medium low heat. Add the brown sugar, cloves and wine. Simmer until the sugar has dissolved.
  • 3 T. butter

  • Add the bananas and the lemon juice. Gently spoon the sauce over the bananas to retard browning. Cook over a medium high heat for 2-3 minutes. Hold now until dessert time. Just reheat.

  • Right before serving, place a scoop of ice cream in each dessert glass or bowl. Reheat the bananas. Spoon the bananas and some sauce over each serving. Delicious!
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

    1/8 t. ground cloves

    1/4 cup sweet white wine, optional

    4 firm, ripe, sliced bananas

    2 T. lemon juice

    1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream (or other flavor)
